Fairleigh Dickinson University, College at Florham, is less approximately three miles south of the Westin Governor Morris, located off of Route 124 in Madison, New Jersey.
The College at Florham at Fairleigh Dickinson University has a rich history, dating back to 1897 when construction of “Florham”, one of America’s finest Gilded Age homes, was completed. Florham was named for its owners: Florence Vanderbilt (granddaughter of Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt) and financier Hamilton McKown Twombly – a combination of their first names, Florence and Hamilton. At its completion, Florham was a 100-room mansion and its centerpiece was a park. In 1958, Fairleigh Dickinson University purchased 187 acres of the property, including the mansion and related buildings – now the College at Florham in Madison, New Jersey.
Fairleigh Dickinson is New Jersey’s largest private university with 8,585 undergraduate and 3,527 graduate students. The student faculty ratio is 14:1, with an average class size of 18 students. Degrees offered at all campuses are Associates, Baccalaureate, Masters and Doctoral. Honors programs are offered in all majors and there are a variety of Accelerated Degree Programs that lets students complete their undergraduate and masters degrees in five years.
Fairleigh Dickinson provides more than 100 student organizations and clubs, including national fraternities and sororities.
As far as athletics are concerned, both men’s and women’s teams compete in more than one dozen sports in Division I (Knights) and Division III (Devils).
